Lesson 3: Educational
Technology in the Asia Pacific Region
Some progressive countries in the Asia Pacific
region have formulated state policies and strategies to infuse technology in
schools to provide confidence to educators that they are taking the right steps
in adopting technology in education. This imperative among nations has
therefore given tremendous responsibilities on educators to create an
educational technology environment in schools. Five progressive states/cities namely New Zealand, Australia,
Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong has prevailing ICT policies and
strategies (Lucido, P. PhD,
Educational Technology 2).
Our country might not be that progressive and
rich to provide each schools with the technological facilities that we need
now, but as what they say, we should make use of what we have. What we have
right now might be considered as pieces of crap by developed countries but we
are still doing fine with what we have. It just takes educators who are willing
to learn more about integrating technology in the teaching-learning process
despite the lack of facilities and also the will to teach it to the students.
Nothing hinders a teacher who has a passion for teaching and educating those
people who needs intellectual, affective, psychomotor and spiritual need.
